Leicester Print Workshop announces a call for artists for smallprint: big impression; a touring exhibition of contemporary prints that measure no more than 100 sq cm.

All selected work will be featured in a full colour catalogue and will tour continuously in a selling exhibition throughout 2011 and will also be available for purchase online.

Selected by an independent panel of experts; prizes include materials and a cash award.

Blink Northampton - a series of artist led interventions on the town's historic Market Square - takes place between 23rd July and 1st August.

Activities include:

A sculpture collaboration between Laura Ellen Bacon and Michael Johnson An LED light show from Jo Fairfax Leather work by Simon Hasan Digital projections from Simon Heijdens There will also be a 'Summer Sundae' event on 1st August between 12pm - 5pm, comprising bandstand, dance floor and a family friendly menu of arts and craft stalls, tea and cupcakes.

Design Factory is delighted to announce their latest development project, “Inspiring Northamptonshire”.

Funded by Arts Council England, Inspiring Northamptonshire is a dedicated 12 month project that will see concentrated activity within the county to develop new opportunities, networking partnerships and to raise awareness of Design Factory in the county.

Ultimately, Design Factory seeks to bring together partners and stakeholders, create new opportunities and create a collective voice for the county’s craft and design sector.

Why Northamptonshire? Through the delivery of Design Factory’s membership service it has become apparent that their visibility and activity across the county is not as widespread as in the rest of the East Midlands.   Through the delivery of Inspiring Northamptonshire, Design Factory will achieve the following key deliverables:

12 craft entrepreneurs will be selected to take part in the Crafted mentoring project. They will be mentored by one expert from the luxury industry, have access to a range of industry experts with specialist skills through the Crafted Advice Bank and attend a series of 6 workshops about key business skills such as strategic planning, marketing, IP and brand protection and trade and export. In addition, opportunities will be provided to profile and showcase the craft makers; for example a Crafted stand at Decorex.

Backlit Gallery, Nottingham is welcoming submissions from national and international artists for the Backlit Open show 2010.

Backlit champions experimental works of all disciplines and will be selecting approximately 15 – 20 works for the upcoming exhibition which will take place across Backlit’s five exhibition spaces.

The selection panel will be looking for artworks which challenge the notions of contemporary art, push boundaries and take risks.
